   Vreni Barilier
In a new series of works, with the undeniable talent she is developping since many years, one recognizes the technical mastership of Vreni Barilier, the exploration of materials, the experimentation ceaseless challenged with new processes. The richness of her imagination, translated into unprecedented and original textures, is carrying us every moment into a new, different and exciting adventure. She is transmtting us her freshness and her sense of humour, her passion of discovery, which envade the large fields of her canvas, sometimes steep or troubled, or sometimes plunging us into abyssal deeps of blue seas.

Inspired by the climatic changes phenomenona, her works are interested in the volcanic eruptions, with smokes and clouds provoked by the fusion of lava ; sometimes by the melting of snow. In the latter, large zones of sparkling whiteness are tinted with beige, brown, sometimes red coloured sprigs or small branches, carried away by the move of natural forces.

The wide register of materials, like a «stroll» going from one canvas to the other, is astonishing. From tar to cement, composing with concrete, sand, rust, acrylic and oil painting, corrosiveness of acids, the artist obtains elaborated and complex textures, with carefully worked reliefs or intricate and multiple superimpositions, which characterize the richness of the new pictorial fields.

Confronting the extremes, the bubbling of lava flow and the coldness of snow flows, black and white, verticality and horizontality, the telluric and the aerial, these are strong works which interpellate and are questioning about our environment and our future.

Vreni Barilier lives and works in Payerne. She exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad, in group or individually. In 2005, award of Public and Montmartre, at the occasion of a group exhibition at the European Academy of Arts in Paris; in Grembloux (Belgium), gold medal in 2006.
